Skoda Velothon Berlin – Registration Ongoing Since 12 January

Registration for the Škoda Velothon Berlin 2010 has been ongoing since Tuesday, 12 January. 15,000 race slots will be offered for the third installment of the city marathon for cyclists, which is the second largest age group race in Europe after the Vattenfall Cyclassics in Hamburg.
Registrations can be made online at www.skoda-velothon-berlin.de or via the official entry form (downloadable from this URL – to be sent by post to the organizer). Two scenic courses to choose from: 60km as well as 120km. Both courses will be completely cordoned off from normal city traffic fort he duration of the race.
The race’s starter’s pistol will be fired on Sunday, 30 May 2010, just as in the prevoius year, at the Pariser Platz, directly in front of the Brandenburg Gate. “From there, both courses will be routed similarly with last year’s, with a scenic lap in the city that skirts through several of Berlin’s important points of interests, as well as a loop in South Berlin and the bordering state of Brandenburg. Both courses re-incorporate the Havelchaussee and the Kronprinzessinnenweg as well as the Grunewald in this section. The finish line will be located on the Straße des 17. Juni, as usual’’, said Melanie Trockel, project director of the organizing firm Upsolut Event GmbH, on the first details of the course route.
A highly appealing trade expo along the homestretch on the Straße des 17. Juni will invite guests to stay, with a multitude of expo booths, information and entertaining, as well as catering services for cycling enthusiasts and spectators of all ages.
Once again co-organizing is SCC-RUNNING Events GmbH, the successful organizer of the real-BERLIN MARATHON for many years, among other things. " Despite its already high organizational standards from the onset, the Škoda Velothon Berlin has always been on a continual path of improvement, and we can say that we are in cooperation with a genuine model for success without exaggerating. Even though it is still relatively new, it already belongs to Berlin’s biggest events.
