Youngclassics continues on the path to success

After their successful edition in 2009, posting a record number of 21 teams participating, the Youngclassics, the stage race for licensed U17 cyclists, were celebrating their 5th anniversary. At Germany’s most distinguished and challenging stage race in the U17 age-group, the young cyclists raced from Thursday, 12th of August till Sunday, 14th of August. About 120 cyclists started at this three-day race.

The competitors started with a road race in the town of Otter on Thursday. This stop is known to be a really fast course. On Friday morning Otter was once more the destination. This time it was, however, a time trial race. In the evening the young cyclists had to complete a leg on the tough course of the „Grand Prix Buchholz“ before finishing up the tour on Saturday with a nice course around the “Binnenalster” in Hamburg. Afterwards, the young cyclists under 15 had another race on the same course.

To participate in the Youngclassics you must have a license and be under the age of 17. A team consists of six cyclists. International teams are more than welcome. Already in 2009 there have been several international teams from Belgium, Denmark, France and Spain. For the 2010 edition there were confirmations from international teams, too.
